What if my transit number is only 4 digits?

Adding the location code for a 5 digit transit number

To set-up your bank account by entering your routing info, a 5 digit transit number is required.

If the transit number provided by your bank has only 4 digits, you need to add the location code at the end of the 4 digit number.

In this case, please add the 5th digit based on the geographic location of the bank branch as outlined below:

0 British Columbia and Yukon
1 Western Québec including Montreal and surrounding areas
2 Ontario including Toronto and surrounding area
3 Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland excluding Labrador
4 New Brunswick
5 Eastern Québec including Labrador
6 Eastern Ontario including Ottawa and surrounding area
7 Manitoba and North-Western Ontario
8 Saskatchewan
9 Alberta, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut
