What if my transit number is only 4 digits?
Adding the location code for a 5 digit transit number
To set-up your bank account by entering your routing info, a 5 digit transit number is required.
If the transit number provided by your bank has only 4 digits, you need to add the location code at the end of the 4 digit number.
In this case, please add the 5th digit based on the geographic location of the bank branch as outlined below:
|0||British Columbia and Yukon|
|1||Western Québec including Montreal and surrounding areas|
|2||Ontario including Toronto and surrounding area|
|3||Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland excluding Labrador|
|5||Eastern Québec including Labrador|
|6||Eastern Ontario including Ottawa and surrounding area|
|7||Manitoba and North-Western Ontario|
|9||Alberta, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut|
